There are a number of ways you can feel safe and sound when looking to Sell Timeshare and if you are within the European Union the best and only way to guarantee this is to use a RDO Member Resale company from their list of authorised agents.
Guarantees with using RDO member
Choosing a member of the RDO resale list offers protection and security through a Code of Ethics set out by the RDO for all member resale companies. All member companies have signed up to the Code of Ethics and adhere to them to the letter. Below are a few requirements of membership: –
- Most importantly, members of RDO are not permitted to take any form of upfront payment for any consideration from buyer or seller within the first 14 days of the date of the contract. This includes taking a credit card number.
- All member companies must offer 14 Days Cooling Off period from the date of the signature on the contract.
- Member companies must not cold call any client they have not been contacted by.
- Member companies must not falsely represent to a seller that they have a buyer when the seller is registering with them.
- Member company must provide to both seller and buyer the full contracts and procedures before the seller or buyer comments to the transaction.
Beware of the following offers
- Any company saying that they have been provided your details by your resort, RCI, RDO, management company or any independent listing company. Please do not confuse this with the above that are recommended by these companies and it is best to check with the above before talking to the company.
- That the company has a buyer. Again in this instance if it is a recommended RDO member company they may have a buyer straight away for certain developments and time of the year.
- The company offers you an inflated price that seems unusually high. There may be a case where the price is higher than you thought your property is worth so best to doubled check with an RDO member company.
